I drove all over Dallas and all I got was shoes.
I went to the outlets in Allen, NorthPark and Target today. And all I got was a $30 pair of shoes that were on “blowout” sale at Nine West.
I guess that is a good thing since I didn’t spend a lot of money, but a bad thing because I really wanted to get some new shirts for work and going out.
Damn. I hate unsuccessful shopping days.

Hello...
Hello cute guy in the hat and the white t-shirt who works at Vickery Park on Henderson.
We talked about Skittles for 10 seconds (ya’ll reading this had to be there) and then you had to go back to delivering beers and stacking glasses. I didn’t catch your name and we only exchanged a few glances, but I think you are cute. And I want you to know that I think outside of beer bottles and...

Someone make sure to bring a camera so we can show off. :)

How to Pass Time at an Airport
My iGoogle How to of the Day made me glad my trip to San Diego was cancelled.
I was supposed to leave yesterday afternoon and fly home this evening with an awful four hour layover at LAX from 9:15pm-12:45am and then finally arrive in Dallas at 5:05am (which would have been this morning!)
When I travel, which is quite often for work and less often for pleasure, I somehow always end up getting...

MY HOPE
For every night I have to stay in, I know there will be a fun night out in the future.
For every time I eat alone, I know there will be a night when I can pick-up the check for friends.
For every time I wish I was working on something I enjoyed, I know there will be a time where I couldn’t believe I’d be getting paid doing a job.
For every time I’m bored, I know there will be an exciting time...

Note to Self.
When you arrive at work, turn your cell phone on ring and take it out of your bag. Check it every now and then throughout the day to make sure you don’t have any missed calls.
Leaving your cell phone on vibrate in your bag means you miss phone calls from your client and more importantly, your dad about free Stars tickets for tonight. When you get home and listen to the voicemails you missed...

Stuck!
I have a feeling everyone at my office thinks I am joking, but I am literally stuck in my apartment. The parking lot is covered in ice and the parking lot gate is frozen shut and won’t open.
Thanks to my nice neighbors (who I have never talked to before today!) for giving me a heads up before I scraped the ice off my car.

It’s amazing how Dallas goes into panic mode and the city (more so the ‘burbs) shuts down at a few drops of freezing rain. Throw on a coat and some boots and drive slow, you will be fine.

Compliment.
When I bust my ass, stay late, redo the same thing over and over again because people can’t make up their minds or something throws a wrench in the plans, I get stressed, pissed and start emotionally eating.
But when someone, someone much higher up on the food chain, tells me that what I worked on is “awesome,” that makes me feel a lot better.

Catching up.
Between my trip to Vegas, working late and going out, I missed the last three week’s of TV. I decided to stay in tonight and just caught up on Grey’s Anatomy (the last three weeks of episodes). Now I know why everyone was talking about last night’s episode today!
I think I will save Private Practice for tomorrow.

The Bushes Return to Texas →
“By next month, the Bushes are expected to move into a newly purchased $2.1 million house in the exclusive Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas, a short drive from the planned library complex on the campus of Southern Methodist University. The General Services Administration, which provides office space for former presidents, has also leased 8,000 square feet of space for Bush in a nearby...

President Barack Obama's Inaugural Address →
“Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many.
They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America - they will be met. On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.”

Pasta with Escarole, White Beans and Chicken... →
I am making a twist on this dish for dinner tonight. Escarole is impossible to find in Dallas (most people don’t even know what it is), so I am using Brocolli Rabe or Rapini, another vegetable that no one in Dallas knows about. It’s kind of bitter, looks like leafy broccoli. It’s a Italian thing.

Real Dallas →
Ashley and I have been talking about starting a Dallas-related blog for some time now. Today, we grabbed a laptop, sat down at Starbucks with some tea lattes (delicious!) and started Real Dallas. It’s our take on everything Dallas - from food to drinks to shopping to crazy overheard conversations to photos.
It’s a work in progress right now, but check it out, follow us and let us know...

Tomorrow = Off.
Since my office/agency is closed tomorrow in honor of MLK Day, I enjoyed a bottle of wine from Vino 100 and a few beers at Liar’s Den this evening.
I ran into someone I didn’t expect to run into, had some heated girlfriend conversations (which are always good, I think), made plans for my day off tomorrow and now, I am enjoying a Lean Cuisine.

New jeans.
I know so many people who have such a hard time finding a pair of jeans. They spend hundreds of dollars on a brand name and try on like 10 pairs before the finally settle on one.
I was in need of a new pair of jeans today, walked into the Gap and bought the first pair I tried on. And they were on SALE for $26.99.
I love a good fit and a good bargain.

Out of it.
I have been feeling so out of it lately. During my long vacation over the holidays, I got used to staying up late, sleeping in and even taking a nap in the afternoon. Then immediately following my time off, I was back to work for one day and then off to Las Vegas for six days.
The combination of too much food, too much alcohol, lack of sleep and long days over the trip has just taken its toll on...

These are the plans we've made so far.
dallastx:
We are for sure meeting up Saturday, January 31st.
We are still trying to choose a venue. Right now we’re looking at Elbow Room and Sherlocke’s.
Let us know what you think!

Works for me! Are we open to suggestions? Sherlock’s is always so loud. What about Old Monk?
