Every day is a new day.
I have been trying to eat healthier and work out more and it has been going so-so. Birthdays at work mean that cake is around for about a week, calling my name from the kitchen. Fridays mean eating out at lunch and the weekends mean having some drinks with friends.
I was up early this morning for a work thing and ate breakfast earlier then usual. At 12:30 I was starving and had a HUGE craving for...

Does anyone...
…feel like meeting me at the McKinney Avenue Tavern (the MAT) tonight? I will buy you a drink, maybe even two, if you will come and sit there with me for an hour.
Promise.
PS - This is for work. Seriously. I have a cool job and get to go to bars. And you should come with me.
*UPDATE - Thank you, Jenny!

Jersey Born, Jersey Bred, Jersey Trash Till I'm...
*Please note: I did not write this. I found it on the Facebook page of an old friend from Jersey. And I like it.
Yeah, I’m from Jersey, have been all my life. I’m gonna give you everything about Jersey - the good, the bad, and the ugly. First… New Jersey people are conceited. It’s true. We hate everyone else. And we think we are better than everyone else. And we never...

Management.
I have been out of college for over four years now. I have had the same job for over four years now. I think I have come along way for my age. I am only 26.
Sometimes its hard for me to think of myself as a supervisor, as someone people look up to. I think I need to take some time every day to remind myself of this so I can become a better manager. I want to be someone people respect, in both my...

My mom is on Facebook.
I never thought the day would come!
My mom called me yesterday to ask me how to sign up for Facebook and if there was charge for it. Apparently her friends from NJ are on it and one of them sent her an invitation so she could see all of his pictures.
Ten minutes after she called, I was trying to explain what Facebook really is.

It's a small world after all.
I always knew Dallas was a small town. Today, I actually felt how small Dallas really is.
That’s all I have to say about that.

Condo shopping.
Just got back from looking at condos with my dad and an agent from Keller Williams. I saw four places, knocked one off the list immediately after walking in and knocked the other two off the list because they are just a little too far away from everything for me.
That left me with one condo in the heart of Oaklawn (I would rather live with the gays instead of next to a crack house). It is a...

Happy Birthday to My Mom!
My mom’s birthday is just four days after my dad’s. They are always easy to remember. I want to wish her a (belated, by 40 minutes or so) happy birthday.
My mom is one of my best friends, although sometimes, I don’t think she realizes it. In recent years, I have felt that I can talk to my mom about anything. Boys, money, food, friends, family. My entire family is very...

Ugh.
I hate having high expectations. I am almost always let down.
Tonight started out with dinner and drinks with friends at Hully & Mo’s in Uptown. I got there and everyone was already talking about an impromptu trip to New Orleans tomorrow (or today!) and I was so down with booking a ticket tonight. I could leave tomorrow early afternoon and come home Sunday morning in time to meet with...

I don't know what's worse...
…loud music or loud sex at 2:30am?
Ever since the letter went out to my apartment building, two days ago, the music has been mute. Last night, the sex noises coming from upstairs flooded my bedroom.
I feel like I went from living in a frat house to living in a cheap motel. Although, I guess sex and loud music could be a frat house too…

Hungry Girl.
The other day I was browsing in Target, somewhere I usually go when I need random crap or feel like getting out of my apartment and have nowhere to go.
I was looking through the books section and found a display of cookbooks. I came across one called “Hungry Girl” and started flipping through it. There were some great new recipes that revamp the original recipes, like spinach...

Happy Birthday to My Dad!
My dad is a super handy guy. My mom and I used to call him Tim Taylor, from the show Home Improvement, because he was always fixing things, always had some project going on around the house.
My dad taught be how to do a lot things throughout the years. In high school, I wanted to paint my room green and he told me I could if I did it myself. So I did. I even painted a palm tree on one wall. I...

Daily accomplishments.
I didn’t finish everything on my to do list for today, but I did work for 2 1/2 hours this morning, cleaned my entire apartment, did 5 loads of laundry (mostly towels, blankets and two comforters), went to Target and bought a new toaster oven and drove around town looking at the condos I found online.
About that…
I was easily able to cross a bunch of places off my list. I would...

Day off...sort of.
Things to do tomorrow:
Get some work done in the morning. Even though the office is closed, my client and part of my team is in Barcelona for a tradeshow. Should only take an hour or so of my time and I can work in my pajamas.
Hit up the Katy Trail. I bought a pedometer this weekend and it makes me feel good to know how many miles I have walked.
Scope out the 6 condos I found online yesterday....

Being home alone on Valentine's Day means...
1. I can eat pasta with garlic and shrimp and spinach (my own creation) and the only one who has to smell my bad breath is Jersey, my cat.
2. I can wear pajamas and watch cheesy movies, like “Fool’s Gold,” which is on HBO.
3. I can enjoy a glass of wine or two and not have to pay $7-10 bucks a glass.
4. I can eat the huge piece of cake I bought at Whole Foods today and no one...

V-Day plans for the single girl.
I woke up this morning and went for a 2.5 mile walk down the Katy Trail and picked up some Starbucks on the way back to my apartment.
Now, I am going to put on a black shirt (perfect color for a single girl), some Valentine’s Day socks that say “love” on them (because they will be hidden) and run errands. Maybe stop by Whole Foods or Central Market (I haven’t decided yet),...

If I wanted to live in a dorm, I would.
Last week, I finally got annoyed enough to call the office at my apartment to complain about the loud music I hear at all hours of the night on a regular basis. I was 99% sure it was coming from downstairs and the manager said she would leave a note on their door.
All was quiet for about a week, so I thought it was taken care of.
This evening after I got back from walking the Katy Trail, I...

Guilt.
I was stressed out today.
I ate a cupcake.
Its cute pink frosting and sprinkles were calling my name from the kitchen all day.
I was at work late and then had to run an errand.
I didn’t get to work out today.
Now, I feel guilty.

Sirens.
I hate Dallas thunderstorms. I hate the heavy winds and rain that blows horizontally. I hate hearing sirens.
I hate when the cable goes out…like it just did. I hate the hail…which I hear now.
Two years ago, was probably the storm that scared me the most. I live in Dallas at Knox/Henderson and was listening to the radio (because the cable went out) and they were reporting...

Don't eat crap.
I unofficially started a diet today. Back in January someone, a complete stranger, said something to me that was an honest mistake, but it was probably one of the most terrible things someone has said to me. Definitely in the top 10.
My unofficial diet consists of making better food choices. Order a turkey burger with fruit or a salad instead of french fries. Have a slice of pizza, not three....

Human again.
After spending the entire weekend on the couch or in bed, I finally feel like a human again.
I hate being sick. Whenever I am under the weather, I try my best to stay inside, take some medicine, eat soup and drink OJ so I can fight it off, but that makes me feel completely shut out from the world. I always seem to be sick over the weekend too, so I miss out on fun stuff and then have to go to...

Getting sick.
You know how I can tell that I am getting sick? One side of my throat hurts.
I woke up this morning with a swollen left gland and my throat has been bothering me all day. I am also extremely exhausted, which can either be attributed to getting sick or work. I have a feeling tomorrow morning, I will feel pretty crappy.
Time for some OJ and Nyquil.
