Thoughts on South Korea.
I spent last week in South Korea for a work-related trip. Here are some random thoughts and observations from my trip: Seoul is like any other city. It reminded me a lot of LA, except about 10 times the size. It took me until the last night in Seoul to actually feel like I was in a foreign country. Apartment/condo buildings are what make up most of the skyline though out the Seoul metropolitan...

Where the Sidewalk Ends
There is a place where the sidewalk ends And before the street begins, And there the grass grows soft and white, And there the sun burns crimson bright, And there the moon-bird rests from his flight To cool in the peppermint wind. Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black And the dark street winds and bends. Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow We shall walk with a walk that...

Killer Spices Keep Pests at Bay →
The next generation of pesticides might smell as sweet as rosemary, cinnamon and thyme. These spices, among others, are proving to be potent insect-fighters that are gentle on the environment and safe for humans, said entomologist Murray Isman, of the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Blah. What a disappointing first preseason game. They better step up their game by the 29th when I have tickets!

Defensive Driving Course - Pass!
I just passed. Time to put my first speeding ticket behind me. Taking this course, as cheesy as it was (Gary Busey was one of the characters), actually made me feel very lucky, very grateful and very blessed. I think it is time to reevaluate how fast I drive and how much I drink and then think it is still OK to drive. It’s time to be more responsible.

Prescription costs.
In the last year, the cost for my prescription has changed three times, a generic brand came out, now the generic is more expensive than the brand name. I got a letter in the mail this week that said my prescription is moving to a different tier beginning September 1. I did some research on United Healthcare’s Web site and found out that means I will be paying $40 a month. I did some...

Welcome to Your Quarterlife Crisis →
Imagine a day in the life of a couple you probably know. He’s 27 years old, and she’s 26. They wake up beside each other in his downtown bachelor apartment and have sex that neither of them particularly enjoys. They’ve been sort-of dating for a while now, but they’re not willing to commit to each other: he likes her, but doesn’t know if he always will. She can’t decide if she likes him more or...

Good day. Bad day.
The good: I signed my mortgage loan application today! Six weeks until moving day! The bad: I got pulled over for going 50 in a 35 and got a $225 ticket. If you can believe it, this was my first speeding ticket ever. I tried to cry my way out of it and it didn’t work. I met my mortgage broker and the first thing I did was cry. What a great first impression. Also, the zipper on my skirt...

The packing has begun.
I started packing up my apartment today. I have 45 days until I move, but after looking at a calendar, I have a lot of travel coming up. NYC, Atlanta, Korea and San Francisco. And I will be away for three weekends over the next 45 days. So I am not crazy, I am planning ahead. I packed up five boxes today, mostly stuff from my pantry/storage closet, my hutch, which holds serving platters, wine...
