Back on the diet again.
After eating my way through Tybee Island and Savannah, and basically eating whatever I wanted for the last month and half or so, I decided to get back on WW. I started on Sunday. So far so good. I have been eating a ton of fruit and veggies. I might have to make a run to the grocery store in a day or two to pick up some more.
I also haven’t been to the gym since…mid-August maybe. I am so lazy. I have always hated working out. I don’t know why I joined a gym. Paying for it is not making me go. And I don’t really have the motivation to go.
I am hoping that starting WW again will help me kickstart my motivation to start working out again. We’ll see.
I pretty much ate my way through Savannah. And it was delish! I know people think Paula Deen’s restaurant, The Lady & Sons, is overrated, but I think it was probably the second best meal I have had in my life (the first being at Iron Chef Michael Symon’s restaurant, Lola, in Cleveland…of all places).
Here are some pictures from dinner at Paula’s place and one from Uncle Bubba’s for good measure.
The attack of the jellyfish.
Last Wednesday, when I was on vacation, I got stung by a jellyfish. It hurt like hell. And I did everything wrong to treat it, but it did start to get better and the welts went away.
However…a few days ago, it got worse. Like nasty, itchy rash all over my ankle and feet worse. I wanted (and sort of still want to) scratch my feet off. I gave in and went to the doctor yesterday. Apparently, I have a delayed allergic reaction. I had to get a shot in my booty and have to take steroids for the next 6 days. I can really only wear flip flops because I wearing any other type of shoes that cover the tops of my feet make my feet sweat and itch like crazy.
I hope this nastiness goes away soon. It’s pretty embarrassing to show my feet and ankles. Thank you, jellyfish of Tybee Island.
I will post photos from Savannah/Tybee Island.
But not tonight. Soon though. Stay tuned.
Vacation: 24 hours and locked out.
24 hours at the rental house:
We cooked some fajitas for dinner. We washed dishes. Put some cookies in the oven. We poured some wine, sat on the nice screened in patio and then got locked out of our house.
I hopped the fence. Got some scratches on my thigh. I walked to our neighbors house (on one side) and no one was home. So then, I walked to the Chu’s convenience store/Chevron gas station and made a call to the rental company…their “non-emergency” number said they would respond in 20 mins.
I saw the other neighbors (on the other side) come home and told them the situation. Nice guy, Sam, and his wife came over. Sam hopped the fence and picked our porch door lock. And now we are back inside, have some seriously burned cookies and will be leaving our beach house doors open for the rest of our stay on Tybee Island, GA.
PS - We plan to leave a bottle of wine and some cookies on our neighbors’ doorstep tomorrow. We are forever indebted to them.
Some updates.
- I’m the September employee of the month at work! I got a sweet gift card (that I plan to buy new blinds for my house with) and a pass to park in the executive parking lot.
- Football is back. And I hope I kick some serious booty in the fantasy football league I am in. I can’t wait to watch the Cowboys play on Sunday.
- I’ve been stressed, tired and anxious. But that is all over now. All I want to do is sleep. It would be awesome to sleep in tomorrow. I am trying to do that with some wine and Tylenol PM.
- I am finally going on my trip to Savannah/Tybee Island, GA on Monday. I am so ready for a whole week off!
That’s all folks.
I’m loving Wolf Gang right now. I find myself humming this song all day if I hear it in the car on my way to work.

I like roasted red peppers now.
I never liked peppers of any kind. And now all of a sudden, I like peppers. I made the bomb sandwich tonight - grilled eggplant and zucchini, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella on a whole wheat roll. It would have been better on ciabatta or a baguette, but I only had whole wheat rolls, so that is what I used. Next time, I think I will add basil or pesto and buy some good, yummy bread.
