Raleigh, NC Recap.

I spent the long weekend with my friend Jess, who moved to Raleigh about 10 months ago. We spent some time in Raleigh and then headed to the Wrightsville Beach/Wilmington area to end the weekend with some beach time.

• Raleigh is a cute city, its clean and the nightlife is pretty fun.
• I LOVE North Carolina BBQ.
• It is OK to lie about who you are and where you came from to get a guy to buy you a drink.
  • I am going through a messy divorce with my lying, cheating husband and I star in the show Real Housewives of New Jersey. I met Jess and her friend Lindsay during a Quizbowl tournament at the Raleigh YMCA. So NOT true.
• My liver needs a serious break.
• A six mile hike in a North Carolina state park is the ideal place to have some serious close encounters with wildlife.
  • Snakes, which we ran from and Jess refused to look at.
  • Frogs, which made us jump, but we didn’t run.
  • Fawns (baby deer), which we stood about 10 feet from and watched for 20 minutes, cursing ourselves for not bringing a camera.
• Married people in the 20-somethings who live in NC like to party and drink as much as the married, 20 and 30-somethings I know in Texas.
• Two games of elimination flip cup with two teams of five leads to passing out in a chair.
• The only place I have ever eaten at where you can order chicken nuggets and corndogs as a side item and have 40 flavors of milkshakes is Cookout, which I highly recommend.
• My liver needs a serious break.
• Wrightsville Beach is awesome. I wish I could pick up a beach-style house and put it in Dallas. I love big porches and pastel colored siding. The only thing missing would be the sun, sand and surf. FAIL.
• Wilmington has one long street of bars. They weren’t so happening on a Sunday night, but I can see Wilmington being a seriously fun town on the weekends.
• We saw a few places where One Tree Hill is filmed, including the basketball court by the water and the “fake” store, Clothes Over Bros.
• Whenever I go to any city by a military base, it is unavoidable to meet military men.
• Bojangles is tasty after a long night of drinking.
• My liver needs a serious break.
