My apartment.

I received a notice on my door last week that my apartment lease is up on September 23rd. They are only raising my rent $12 a month too. That’s awesome, considering I have been here for almost 2 years and it hasn’t gone up yet. Plus, my office is moving from 13 miles away to about 1 mile away in September, so I will be saving significantly on gas.

I like my place. There’s things I would change. I am not a fan of the floor or fixtures in the bathroom. The appliances in the kitchen could use an update. It would be nice to have hardwood floors, in the living room, at least.

After chatting with my dad this evening, he told me to go down to the leasing office and talk to the manager about what deals they offer if I move, but stay within the same group of apartments. Since there are about 10 or so other apartment complexes in Dallas under the same ownership, I thought this sounded like a great idea.

I decided to check out the other apartments around town. I personally think my rent is average for the size of my apartment and the neighborhood I live in (I wanted to live in a cool part of town), so I thought I would find some lower prices in different neighborhoods. I was right, but surprised. Rent at some of the newer, updated apartments around town is through the roof! Disappointment.

I still plan on taking a trip down to the leasing office this week/weekend and I will see what they have to offer, but I don’t think I will get my hopes up.
