Office computers.

I am not a tech whiz by any means, but I can mess around with things until they work or figure some kind of solution out.

I successfully installed VPN software on two of our office laptops over the past few days, which was a big deal since we have two “work from home days” a month now. I attempted to mess around with one of the laptops that had some kind of Trojan horse virus on it only to be told by IT that we need to pack it up and send it to them. Apparently whatever is on there could seriously jack up our network. Way to go whoever downloaded something they shouldn’t have or looked at porn while they were travelling.

Now that we are down an office laptop, I decided to try and get the VPN on my home computer. I looked up my virus scan software, which is apparently what we need to go to get approved to install the VPN at home, and it expired in 2006. Note: My computer crashed about 3 years ago and one of the kind IT guys at work rebuilt it for me, so why can’t they just update my virus software?

Anyway, after all my hard work and stellar tech skills, I have a feeling I will be denied home VPN access. And if that is the case, I am working from home on Friday anyway. So there.
