How to Pass Time at an Airport

My iGoogle How to of the Day made me glad my trip to San Diego was cancelled.

I was supposed to leave yesterday afternoon and fly home this evening with an awful four hour layover at LAX from 9:15pm-12:45am and then finally arrive in Dallas at 5:05am (which would have been this morning!)

When I travel, which is quite often for work and less often for pleasure, I somehow always end up getting delayed. Weather in Dallas. Weather at my destination. Mandatory crew rest. Waiting for a flight attendant. Replacing a tire. A flood in the plane. All of these things have actually happened to me. My client even gets worried every time we travel together and always anticipates flight delays when I am around.

Last summer, during my trip to Napa/Sonoma, I waited six hours in the lobby of Budget waiting for my rental car. I complained to the woman behind the desk every hour on the hour until a delivery of cars came in I was upgraded to a VW Beetle convertible.

Now that I actually think about it, I might have a travel curse. Good thing I don’t have any trips planned (as of right now!) until the end of March.
