A movie and friends.

Looking forward to catching up with friends this evening at The Moonlight Movie Series at Main Street Garden. It’s hot, not as hot as it has been over the last week and half or so, but I am hoping it cools off when the sun starts to go down.

I stopped at Whole Foods and picked up some TexMex salsa (tomatoes, corn, black beans, jalapenos, cilantro and what looks like too much onion) and hummus for snacks. The rest of the crew is bringing SkinnyGirl margaritas and cookies and other goodies. I think these are the makings of an enjoyable night.

A few overdue photos from my recent activities - My first Rangers game, a blurry view of downtown Dallas from Bar Belmont at The Belmont Hotel and Matt & Kim at HOB Dallas, which was the same night the Mavs won the championship. Lots of good times over the last couple of weeks!

I have to document this.

I am standing in my laundry room. With my cats. And their damn litter box. Attempting not to get blown away by the nasty weather and possible tornadoes out there. This is some crazy stuff.

Note: My tornado kit - computer, cell phone, sparkling water and a Snuggie.

Thank you, Dallas County.

Last year (or maybe last year going into this year since I think I filled out 3-4 forms), I filed some paperwork with the county for a tax exemption on my condo, which I have owned since October 2009.

I was shocked and extremely excited to find a nice check in my mailbox today from the Dallas County Tax Assessor/Collector. This check could not have come at a better time.

Crossroads Diner.

This. place. was. awesome.

Being from NJ, the diner capital of the world, I have been seriously disappointed in Dallas’ diner offerings. Basically, there are a handful of places that call themselves diners, like Metro Diner, but none of them have ever lived up to my expectations. Until today, when my mom and I went to lunch at Crossroads Diner.

Now it wasn’t a traditional diner and the food was definitely more upscale, but it was delish. They serve breakfast all day, have traditional diner classics like meatloaf and tuna salad and the portions were huge. I had a BLT and chips and brought half of it home for dinner. My mom had a corned beef sandwich and she had leftovers too.

The location is a little out of the way (Walnut Hill, between 75 and Greenville), but it’s worth it. I will definitely be back and I recommend my Dallas friends try it too.

View of my patio. THIS is what closed DISD and my office today. I understand that it has turned to ice and all, but I used to laugh at this amount of snow when I lived in NJ. Oh well, I am not really complaining…I do enjoy working in sweatpants and a hoodie from my couch.
