My mom called me lame.

Because I said I wanted to stay in tonight, try a new recipe (which I call eggplant parm pasta - Weight Watchers style), lay on my couch in my pajamas and watch TV.

Ya know what, mom, I might be lame, but I am perfectly happy staying in tonight.

HGTV.

Ever since I have started looking for a condo, and now that I have found one, I am obsessed with watching HGTV.

Property Virgins, House Hunters, Curb Appeal, Design on a Dime. I have some good ideas on decorating and paint colors!

The Men Tell All

Lincee is on vacation, but her friends Jill and Catherine did a pretty good job recapping last night’s The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All.

“Juicy.”

I just finished watching Real Housewives of New Jersey. Here are my thoughts:

  • The show takes place in Franklin Lakes, NJ. I grew up in Wanaque, NJ. According to Google Maps, they are 8.4 miles apart.
  • I worked in Franklin Lakes in high school and college.
  • My mom worked in Franklin Lakes for a long time.
  • My mom and dad grew up in Oakland, NJ. According to Google Maps, they are 3.1 miles apart. However, being from NJ, I can say for a fact, that they are bordering towns.
  • I went to high school with the bride in the scene at the Brownstone.
  • The Brownstone is, in fact, the premiere wedding reception location in NJ.
  • My cousin is considering having her wedding reception at the Brownstone.
  • I have been to the bar, Lua, where Danielle got stood up.
  • Their accents are bad, but not that bad.
  • New Jersey looks kind of nice and green on the show.
  • I am looking forward to the rest of the season because like a car wreck or Paris Hilton, you can’t help but watch.

No Bravo?

I was pretty jazzed to watch Real Housewives of NJ last night. There is definitely some six degrees of separation going on with me and all of those crazy, plastic, orange NJ ladies on the show.

10pm is late for me. I know, I am a serious nerd. But I stayed up and started flipping through channels to find Bravo. Apparently, I don’t have Bravo. Way to go Gables for only offering Grande Communications or Dish Network to your residents.

I guess I will have to wait until Bravo put the full episodes online.

UPDATE: Thank you hulu.

Loner.

I have always hated group projects. They seem like a good idea - split up the work, everyone participates. In school, I was always the one to take the lead and do all the work so it would be done well and on time. It created more for me to do, but I knew I would get a good grade.

I feel the same way now. If you want something done right (or your way), do it yourself. It’s a battle I have been dealing with. Trying to delegate tasks so I can focus on working on other things. It’s easier said than done.

I’ve also been feeling a little out of sorts lately. I don’t feel like getting into the gorey details, but I am currently more content reading a book, surfing the Web or rotting my brain cells with cheesy TV and movies than going out. I know I need work on some personal issues right now, try to expand my social circle, branch out and do new things. Again, easier said than done.

Poor Melissa.

I am sucker for cheesy reality TV shows and this is the first season I have really been into The Bachelor.

Jason proposed to Melissa, the Dallas girl, and now on the after show, he is breaking up with her. I know these shows are lame and probably staged, but I’m sorry…how can you honestly fall in love and get in engaged to someone in such a short period of time? He never should have put a ring on her finger. He should have been a man and said he had strong feelings for her, said he was falling in love with her and presented her with the rose. No ring, no engagement. He/they would have never been in this situation.

OK…I am done complaining about a TV show. But, I wonder if Melissa is back in Dallas. I think we could be friends.

Catching up.

Between my trip to Vegas, working late and going out, I missed the last three week’s of TV. I decided to stay in tonight and just caught up on Grey’s Anatomy (the last three weeks of episodes). Now I know why everyone was talking about last night’s episode today!

I think I will save Private Practice for tomorrow.

We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration

A history lesson, told in secular songs that spoke of belief in mankind and perseverance and in stories of bold moves by strong leaders, served as Barack Obama’s first public celebration in Washington, D.C.
