Ants!
I was sitting on the couch watching Grey’s Anatomy when I felt something on my hand. An ANT! I squish it in a napkin and throw it away only to come back and see more of them crawling on my windowsill and walls and some on the couch. Seriously?!
I have a cat so I would have had to go to Home Depot to find some pet safe ant traps so I Googled ants and cats. I found that cinnamon, cucumber peels and lemon juice are natural ant repellants.
I just vacuumed my couch, carpet, pillows and windowsills. I sprinkled cinnamon in the windowsills and reclosed the windows (good thing I turned the AC on earlier) and sprinkled more cinnamon in the doorway to my balcony. I know those little f*$%ers are coming in from the balcony and through the tiny gaps in my windows and door which lead out to my balcony. Crappy apartment windows and shitty weather stripping in the doorway!
Now I can’t help that creepy crawly feeling like there are ants all over me. GROSS! I hate bugs. I HATE bugs!
I’ll be making a trip to pick up some pet-friendly ant traps tomorrow.
Curious.
I just took my garbage out and I spotted a black Lexus with some seriously tinted windows with a New Jersey license plate parked outside.
I am very curious right now. It’s not every day someone from the Garden State is in Dallas. I might have to start knocking on doors to find this mysterious visitor (or new resident?!) from Jersey.
Condo shopping.
Just got back from looking at condos with my dad and an agent from Keller Williams. I saw four places, knocked one off the list immediately after walking in and knocked the other two off the list because they are just a little too far away from everything for me.
That left me with one condo in the heart of Oaklawn (I would rather live with the gays instead of next to a crack house). It is a quiet, two story place with an updated kitchen, balcony and two bedrooms. But, do I love it? For my first time out looking at places, it was definitely the best one, but now I am itching to see what else is out there!
I don’t know what’s worse…
…loud music or loud sex at 2:30am?
Ever since the letter went out to my apartment building, two days ago, the music has been mute. Last night, the sex noises coming from upstairs flooded my bedroom.
I feel like I went from living in a frat house to living in a cheap motel. Although, I guess sex and loud music could be a frat house too…
Four phone calls, multiple pillows over my head and a few stomps on the floor later and this finally showed up on the door of every apartment in my building today.
Let’s see if the techno music, video games or whatever is going on around here quiets down tonight.
Daily accomplishments.
I didn’t finish everything on my to do list for today, but I did work for 2 1/2 hours this morning, cleaned my entire apartment, did 5 loads of laundry (mostly towels, blankets and two comforters), went to Target and bought a new toaster oven and drove around town looking at the condos I found online.
About that…
I was easily able to cross a bunch of places off my list. I would rather not live next to a crack house or in a run down neighborhood. These realtors sure make their listings online look good! While driving around, I did find a few other places that looked nice, so I am adding them to my list. My dad owns a property management company, so he is able to show properties without those pushy real estate agents, and is coming down next weekend so we can see what the insides of these places look like. My lease isn’t up until October, so I know it is early to be looking for a new place, but it can’t hurt.
If I wanted to live in a dorm, I would.
Last week, I finally got annoyed enough to call the office at my apartment to complain about the loud music I hear at all hours of the night on a regular basis. I was 99% sure it was coming from downstairs and the manager said she would leave a note on their door.
All was quiet for about a week, so I thought it was taken care of.
This evening after I got back from walking the Katy Trail, I walked into my apartment to hear the thudding of music. Obviously, my neighbors have no respect for the people that live around them.
I hate to be “that girl” and complain to the office again, but if I wanted to relive my college years and move into a dorm, I would.
It’s time I start looking for a new place, hopefully a condo or house, so I plan to get in my car and drive around this weekend to pick up flyers.
Stuck!
I have a feeling everyone at my office thinks I am joking, but I am literally stuck in my apartment. The parking lot is covered in ice and the parking lot gate is frozen shut and won’t open.
Thanks to my nice neighbors (who I have never talked to before today!) for giving me a heads up before I scraped the ice off my car.
It’s been a windy weekend.
The people upstairs from me must be away this weekend. Since Friday evening when I came home from work (I was supposed to have the day off so I wasn’t in the best mood), I have been hearing a banging noise every once in a while. I thought my neighbors were moving.
Up until yesterday, I didn’t know what it was. Until…I poked my head outside on the balcony and looked up. Their damn storage closet door on the balcony is open and everytime there is a gust of wind, it slams against the railing.
If they aren’t home by this afternoon, I am calling the office to complain.
Neighbor woes.
I know it’s only 9:21pm on a Saturday night. And I know I should be out doing something. But I am not. I am home, attempting to relax and just enjoy my evening.
My neighbor(s) downstairs (I have no clue who he/she/they are) are apparently having a techno party or something and the music is making its way through their ceiling to my floor and into my living room. Really?!
Grow up people. This is not college anymore. Have some respect for the people who live above you, below you and next to you. Or I will just go to the management office and put in a complaint about you.
