The Dirty (Snowy) Jerz.

That’s right. I am back in NJ for a few days. I have a client event tomorrow and my rule of thumb this time of year is to fly in the day before the event in case their is inclement weather, such as their was today.

My 7am flight out of DFW was canceled, but the nice lady at American Airlines was able to get me on the next flight out at 9:35am. We even landed in Newark 30 minutes early…so take that Snowpocalypse 2011.

I spent some time in my company’s headquarters office in East Rutherford this afternoon, which brought back a lot of memories. I can’t believe I started here as an intern in 2004. How time flies when you are having fun. *Cough, right, cough.*

I am meeting up with my good friend John and his girlfriend Kate for dinner tonight (I hope we have Italian or Chinese!) and having breakfast with my uncle in the morning at a real NJ diner.

It’s time like these when I come up here, visit friends and family and then head back home that I miss it. That feeling usually goes away a few days later though, so don’t worry DFW, I have no plans to come back to the dirty Jerz.

I haven’t been home the last two weekends.

And I am not complaining, just stating a fact. I spent October 1-2 in Austin and October 9-10 in Napa. Not to brag or anything, but my life is sort of awesome sometimes.

This weekend, I am looking forward to spending it at home, in Dallas.

I am not a baseball fan by any means, but I am really into the team spirit for the Rangers right now, so tonight will likely be spent watching the game with friends somewhere. Tomorrow, more bathroom renovations and finally painting! I am almost done! Sunday, watching the Cowboys game (come on, we need another win!), possibly at the Nodding Donkey, a new bar in the State & Allen neighborhood.

Ahh, the weekend.

Meet Urban Daddy Dallas

UrbanDaddy is a free daily email devoted to bringing you the single thing you need to know every day about your city. It’s free.

From UrbanDaddy.com: Our sole mission, as we mentioned before: tackling every interesting experience in this colossal stadium we call home, and living to tell you about it. Once a day, you’ll get a quick hit of knowledge about a new rooftop tequila lounge in Deep Ellum, a members-only wine bar on Henderson, or an underground bocce club filled with real-estate moguls and the high-heeled fashionistas who love them… and bocce.

We’re filtering out the unnecessary and the overexposed to bring you exactly what you need to know when you’re out in the epicenter of the Lone Star State. And if that means sampling a few flaming mambo taxis or venturing into a Saint-Tropez-inspired pool party in Uptown—well, we are happy to put in the time.

“I get older, they stay the same age.”

Every night I go out, this is what I think. Total Dazed and Confused moment. Why am I always attracted to younger men?!

No matter what happens in the snow-battered Northeast these next two days, the Cowboys own a playoff spot heading into Christmas.

Cowboys beat (previously) undefeated Saints, 24-17.

Why I am not a fan of the White Rock Marathon.

Got up early to make a run to Home Depot to pick up paint for my bedroom. The White Rock Marathon just so happened to make it’s way down the street by my house and I didn’t think anything of it until I came back from Home Depot.

There was absolutely no way to get back to my house. After screaming in my car at the top of my lungs (I might have anger issues), I had to park my car 4 blocks away, carry my gallon of paint and wait for a break in the runners to cross the street and actually get to the gate of my complex. Ridiculous! Whoever planned the marathon route is a freakin’ idiot. You should leave at least one way to get everywhere in town. If you close down one street, leave another open. You need to give people options…the whole damn city can’t shut down just because some crazy people want to run 26 miles.

After that interruption this morning, I painted my bedroom, did a few loads of laundry, started to decorate my bedroom and baked oatmeal peanut butter chocolate chip cookies while watching the Cowboys game. Oh, and this afternoon I walked back to get my car.

Overall it was a good day, but I might just have to write the White Rock Marathon people and tell them to learn how to plan next year’s marathon route.
