Open windows.
Ike blew through Dallas over the weekend and thankfully we didn’t get hit as bad as the weather authorities predicted. My thoughts are with everyone along the Texas coast that was affected.
The one thing that Ike did bring to Dallas is this amazing weather. Highs in the 80’s during the day and lows in the 50’s/60’s at night. It felt wonderful to open all the windows in my apartment yesterday and let some fresh air in after an entire summer of recycled, stale air conditioning air. I also slept awesome last night.
Jersey is very happy, too. She has been sitting in the window sill smelling the fresh air and watching my neighbors walk their dogs.
Hurricane Ike Survival Kit.
Ike is making landfall around Galveston sometime during the wee hours of the night and is expected to make its way to the D/FW area sometime tomorrow. Two-six inches of rain and tropical storms winds are likely.
I have provisions:
- One frozen pizza
- One bag of Garden Salsa Sun Chips
- One package of Reduced Fat Oreos
- Two movies - Stop Loss and Smart People
- My computer
And if the power goes out:
- A couple of magazines
- A book, Second Chance by Jane Green
- A few candles
- And if I look hard enough, a flashlight with batteries that probably don’t work
