V-Day/President’s Day weekend recap.

  • Friday - Worked from home due to the snow covered roads and because my office building had no power. Met up with my friend/co-worker Shaun, a true NJ boy, who was in town for a work event. We bitched about work, rambled on about how we can’t find normal people to date and had a few drinks.
  • Saturday - Ran some errands. Lounged around. Gave myself a manicure. Did laundry.
  • Sunday - Went grocery shopping. Spent Valentine’s Day with my friend Ashley - saw Up in the Air (best movie I have seen in a while), had drinks and appetizers at The Porch, then met up with our co-worker Brett and his buddy for some drinks. He was definitely trying to set Ashley up with this guy. A little awkward.
  • Monday - Helped my dad at his office. Bought a new car! 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SE. Spent some time with my family. Going to bed early.

Dear John (Spoiler Alert)

I tend to cry while watching Grey’s Anatomy or Private Practice. When I need a good cry, I usually watch The Notebook. I cry like a baby every time I watch that movie. I was expecting the same of Dear John. The previews really hyped it up and, don’t get me wrong, it was a tearjerker, but I didn’t ball my eyes out like I thought I would.

There were two scenes that had me blotting my eyes (and cheeks) with a tissue - when Savannah breaks up with John (which you think is her last letter) and when John reads the letter he wrote to his dad, who has a stroke and eventually passes away.

Good movie, but disappointing cry.

I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time.

If you are in the mood to laugh until you cry and your stomach hurts, I highly recommend seeing The Hangover.

Definitely the funniest movie I have seen in a long time and one of those you will have to see when it comes out on DVD.

Being home alone on Valentine’s Day means…

1. I can eat pasta with garlic and shrimp and spinach (my own creation) and the only one who has to smell my bad breath is Jersey, my cat.

2. I can wear pajamas and watch cheesy movies, like “Fool’s Gold,” which is on HBO.

3. I can enjoy a glass of wine or two and not have to pay $7-10 bucks a glass.

4. I can eat the huge piece of cake I bought at Whole Foods today and no one will judge me (except everyone reading this).

Hooray for me.

Weekend recap.

Even though it is Tuesday, I had a pretty damn good weekend:

  • Friday: Had a 1/2 vacation day in the afternoon. Went to the outlet mall and thanks to Ashley, got an awesome deal on a super cute Cole Haan bag. Had too many glasses of wine at happy hour and then proceeded to try out Fedora, a new place by the Campisi daughter (I think the one who posed in Playboy), over at One Arts Plaza. Good atmosphere, a few weird clientele, one rude bartender, tasty wine and decent pizza.
  • Saturday: Helped serve mimosas and took party pics at Ashley’s mom’s friends 50th birthday party, which was held in the design district at an interior design shop. I walked away with some thank you gifts - a bright teal blue vase and two candles. In the afternoon, hit the crowded mall, did some shopping and used my year old movie passes to see Twilight.
  • Sunday: Slept in. Watched some move on Showtime about the Zodiac killer in CA. Went to Barnes & Noble to buy the Twilight book, went grocery shopping and spent about 4 hours reading.

All in all, a good weekend.

PS - I am probably a little late jumping on the bandwagon here, but everyone was right when they said they couldn’t put Twilight down. The movie was cheesy and I laughed through parts of it, but the books are pretty damn good. I am already 3/4 of the way through and have a trip to the bookstore planned to pick up the others.
