Sleep.

When I was in high school/college I had a lot of sleeping problems. I would find myself sitting up in bed in the middle of the night. I never remembered tossing and turning or waking up, I would just sort of come-to and be sitting up in bed.

The last few months I have been having some sleeping problems again. I wake up at 2am almost every morning. I think the exception to waking up at 2am is when I come home at 2am. I have been sleeping so much on the weekends, when it comes Sunday night, I have slept so much that I can’t fall asleep at a reasonable time.

Take last night for example…this weekend I had a late and sort of crazy Friday night. I did nothing on Saturday during the day. I went to dinner and hung out with some friends on Saturday night, but was home and in bed by about 10pm. On Sunday, I slept until about 8:30am, worked out, ran errands, read some magazines, etc. and then last night, I was awake, in bed until about 1am. And then awake around 2am. ThenĀ  my alarm went off at 6:40am. And I snoozed until 7am. Today I had three caffeinated beverages and at 3pm I could have leaned over on my desk and passed out.

I am not really sure what to do, but I sort of feel like one of those people in the Ambien commercials - “Need help falling asleep and staying asleep?” YES! That is me. Maybe I should see a doctor…it’s only been…YEARS since I have been to a doctor for a normal check up/physical. I don’t even have a general practitioner in Dallas. I have every other type of doctor, but not a regular, old doctor.

Great, now I am going to be worrying about not being able to sleep and finding a doctor that I won’t be able to sleep tonight.

Relaxing weekend.

After last week, I needed to just relax. I slept for what feels like half the weekend, sat by the pool, watched some movies, caught up on the shows I missed last week, went grocery shopping and cooked some good stuff to eat this week.

I have the day off from work tomorrow and I am debating on how to spend it. Mani/pedi? See Eat Pray Love (by myself)? Clean my house (not likely)? Visit my parents? Nothing at all? I am thinking a combination of mani/pedi and seeing Eat Pray Love, along with a little bit of cleaning.

I feel like it has been a while since I have had a day off, so I plan to not look at my phone/emails and take one more day to just relax.

FYI - I have a nice, looong weekend coming up over Labor Day weekend, Friday - Tuesday, which I am really looking forward too. I am spending part of it on a girls trip with my mom and some friends and the rest of it doing some things around my house and relaxing.

Las Vegas kicked my ass.

This year’s CES was officially a beat down. My feet hurt, my back hurts and I may have slept for 12 hours in the past 6 days.

Out of it.

I had one of those days today where I felt completely out of it. I felt off. I didn’t feel like myself.

I don’t know why or what caused it, but it felt crappy and I hope a good night’s sleep will cure me of it.

UPDATE: I didn’t make it to Half-Price Books or go to the farmer’s market, but I made it to the grocery store, made a new recipe tonight (Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry with Whole Wheat noodles) and have two new recipes planned for this week (Chicken/Bean Burritos and Pasta with Roasted Tomatoes and Cannellini Beans) and I took a two hour nap on my couch this afternoon.

Out of it.

I have been feeling so out of it lately. During my long vacation over the holidays, I got used to staying up late, sleeping in and even taking a nap in the afternoon. Then immediately following my time off, I was back to work for one day and then off to Las Vegas for six days.

The combination of too much food, too much alcohol, lack of sleep and long days over the trip has just taken its toll on me. This week I haven’t been able to fall asleep at my usual 10pm-ish time (pre-holidays) and I wake up feeling like a zombie, which lasts most of the morning at work.

I’d like to say I can’t wait for the weekend so I can sleep, but Friday and Saturday are already shaping up to be busy. It will be nice to wake up Saturday and Sunday morning without an alarm clock though.

Time for some more caffeine…

Under pressure.

I have a crazy day at work tomorrow with back-to-back-to-back meetings. I do well under pressure, so I am looking forward to successfully tackling the day, even though I am slightly freaking out in my head.

I have a feeling I am going to be tossing and turning all night.

And I am pretty ticked off that I didn’t go to the gym tonight. I guess I could have gone to the gym, but after all was said and done and I turned off my computer, I just wanted to put my pajamas on and eat some dinner. So I came home.

Now it is 9:41pm and I am going to bed.
